Joshua Alter ’13

Joshua Alter ’13 is J.D. Programs Director, Office of Transnational Programs; Adjunct Professor of Law at St. John’s University School of Law.  Joshua initially created Field Notes in 2012, when he interned at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.  That experience ultimately led to his decision to remain at St. John’s and oversee the international programs available for J.D. students.  In this role, Joshua works with students interested in the NATO Practicum (a semester-length program at NATO’s office in Mons, Belgium), International Practicum (semester-length opportunities in Vienna, Geneva or The Hague), Academic Exchange (semester-long study abroad at the University of Glasgow) and summer internships abroad.

Joshua’s blogging will primarily focus on:

  • his experiences working with students to secure positions in international legal practice;
  • his role in international recruitment; and
  • teaching legal writing to foreign-trained students.
